While the hopeless romantics celebrated J-Lo and Affleck’s matching tattoos, others criticized the quality of the ink as well as the idea of getting matching tattoos with a partner entirely. An average of about five to 10+ laser sessions are required for complete tattoo removal, while only a few are necessary to fade the original ink enough for an artful coverup tattoo. Patients must wait at least six weeks in between laser tattoo removal sessions to let the skin properly heal and the body to flush out the shattered ink particles. Despite backlash in the news and on social media about the legality of the eight year old tattooer, the Texas Health and Safety Code does not set a minimum age requirement for tattoo artists. While the rulings for providing tattoos vary by state – with some gray areas, of course – so do the rulings and regulations for providing tattoo removal.
