As an aesthetic practitioner wanting to add laser hair removal to their practice, it’s crucial to know the ins and outs of the device you’ll be working with. In the next episode of our Inside the Laser webinar series, you’ll learn more about The Asclepion MeDioStar® diode laser, backed by Astanza. Get informed on the laser’s specs, diode technology, available handpieces, and how to maximize profitability with the most effective hair removal laser featuring the largest spot size in the market.
Details on The MeDioStar®
The MeDioStar® is a revolutionary hair removal laser that provides safe and effective treatments for all skin types and hair colors. The powerful diode laser produces two different wavelengths, 810nm and 940nm, that target various features of the follicle to prevent further growth. In addition, the variable pulse length (3 - 400 ms) and cooling system guarantee effective treatment of all skin types (Fitzpatrick I-VI), including newly tanned skin.
In addition to its unique wavelength combination, the MeDioStar® comes with additional handpieces to treat all areas of the body. The handpiece sizes range from Small to Extra-Large, featuring a spot size of 10 cm2 and a maximum power of 5000 Watts. This industry-leading spot size allows for the fastest treatment times for large areas.
Upgrading Your Technology
If the hair removal laser you’re currently using breaks down regularly, takes more than 15 minutes to finish one treatment, or only has the ability to treat a few similar skin types, now may be the time to upgrade your laser to the MeDioStar®.
Unlike other lasers, the Asclepion MeDioStar® can do a large area treatment, such as legs or back, in as little as 4 minutes. In addition, armpit or upper lip hair removals can be done in seconds! The speed of each treatment means you can double your sessions by the hour. Plus, full hair removal needs an average of 6 to 8 sessions with an average cost of $398 per session, meaning one individual’s full treatment would cost $2,388 to $3,184, increasing your profits.
As previously mentioned, the MeDioStar® has the ability to treat all skin areas due to the various handpiece sizes. The handpieces also come with silver 360º contact skin cooling tips, protecting patients from thermal injury while making treatment application more seamless for practitioners. This will give your practice a larger clientele to service as you work with various skin types.
The best part is the variety of treatments the MeDioStar® can perform. In addition to hair removal, your practice can profit from performing vascular and pigmented lesion treatments and other dermatological treatments. With the right handpieces, your new MeDioStar® laser can become the all-in-one device that your practice needs to save space, increase revenue, and target a larger market than before.

The Science Behind The Treatment
Both wavelengths work together to treat the deepest hair follicles and remove unwanted hair. The primary wavelength, 810 nm, targets melanin chromophore, which travels down the hair shaft follicle to distribute heat pulse. The second wavelength, 940 nm, utilizes a smaller peak absorption in hemoglobin chromophores. This utilization of two wavelengths allows total reduction of hair growth, as it stops essential nutrients from getting to the follicle.
Since hair grows in a cycle, multiple treatments are required for every patient, as hair removal is only effective during the active growth stage. The three phases in the growth cycle are the anagen phase, the catagen phase, and the telogen phase. For a treatment to be successful and achieve long-lasting results, a practitioner should target the hair during the anagen phase (growth stage).
