Ready for smoother, more youthful-looking skin? Whether you’ve spent the majority of your years in the sun or kept it cool in the shade, you probably have a few fine lines, brown spots, wrinkles, and other blemishes you’d like resolved. Now you can experience fresh skin thanks to the advanced laser technology of skin resurfacing.

The DermaBlate Erbium:YAG laser is the gold standard for ablative and non-ablative treatments and has been one of the top-selling Erbium lasers in the world for the past 20 years.

What differentiates ablative laser skin treatments from non-ablative laser skin treatments? To put it simply, ablative skin resurfacing physically cuts into the top layer of skin, leading to an increase in collagen production and skin remodeling. Non-ablative skin resurfacing only heats up the lower layer of the skin without actually cutting into the skin or causing any damage.

Watch the Treatment in Real-Time

Astanza Laser President David Murrell recently received non-ablative skin resurfacing laser treatments in the under-eye area. Watch the video below to see how it works and hear about his experience with a non-ablative skin treatment.

Difference in Treatment Options and Healing Time

Ablative laser skin resurfacing is good for treating visible signs of aging such as deep wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne scarring. Because ablative laser skin treatments cut into the skin, there’s a longer recovery time than non-ablative skin resurfacing, which has little to no downtime. After ablative skin resurfacing treatments, it’s recommended to avoid makeup for the first day or two after treatment, and full recovery takes about one to two weeks. However, there’s no need for bandages or any special coverings on the treated area. Patients shouldn’t expect to feel much pain at all, maybe a small scab over the treatment area.

Because non-ablative laser skin resurfacing doesn’t physically cut the skin, there’s essentially no downtime after treatment. The practitioner will apply a hyaluronic acid or serum to the skin following treatment to rehydrate the skin, allowing patients to go on about their day. Non-ablative laser treatments are good for targeting fine lines and minor imperfections. However, most patients require multiple sessions to achieve the effects of a single ablative treatment.

Let the Results Speak for Themselves

You can expect to see an improvement in skin elasticity, texture, and appearance with both ablative and non-ablative laser skin resurfacing. Patients may see minor dark marks on the treated areas, but no need to worry. These will fade in the week(s) following treatment.

Final results will show an overall smoother complexion, heavily-reduced deep wrinkles, and even the disappearance of fine lines and smaller wrinkles. With non-ablative laser skin treatments, patients can enjoy the appearance of a few years of age taken off. With ablative laser skin treatments, patients can expect to remove even a whole decade of aging from their appearance.

The wildly popular skin treatments from the DermaBlate use light energy to produce controlled damage to the skin, promoting new collagen production and natural skin remodeling.
